The Rising Junior Checklist
Congratulations! You’ve made it through Sophomore year! Now, as a rising Junior, it’s time to buckle down and start tackling some of your college admissions tasks. This quick list will help clarify some important factors in a successful Junior year.
-
Formulate a plan
Take the time to sit together with your parents or counselor and talk about what you plan to accomplish during your Junior year. It’s important to take a look at the aspects of college admissions prep that will help you achieve success.
-
Determine your Top Colleges
If you haven’t already, now is the time to create your list of Top Colleges. Whether you use a college search service, or you look on your own, starting your college list early is important and will help keep you on track in the next two years. Consider your academic goals, the campus culture, location, and potential majors as factors in your list.
-
Tackle the SAT or ACT
If you already know which test you will take, great! If not, now is the time to determine which test is best for you (and your college admissions requirements). You should also know what goal score you need to achieve based on your list of colleges. Getting the SAT or ACT out of the way can help to free up valuable time in your Senior Year. It’s also helpful to determine which study method you will use, such as the private lessons we offer at InTuition Works.
-
Keep your grades up
While this seems like a no-brainer, keeping your high school academics on track is vital to your college admissions success!
-
Check in often
Now that you have a plan, be sure to check your progress as the year progresses. You may even want to update your list mid-year to include new goals. Remember, College Admissions is a process, but keeping yourself organized and on track can take a lot of stress away.
